Increasing the resilience of localities and regions by improving the control of risks and their impacts

Climate change and pressure on localities and regions combine to increase their vulnerability to natural hazards and anthropogenic pollution. BRGM promotes sustainable development by supporting these areas through an integrated approach to the risk management chain, from prevention to adaptation.

Body
It is particularly active in coastal areas, with tools for monitoring, modelling and supporting the redevelopment of these areas that are vulnerable to erosion and exposed to the risk of coastal flooding. BRGM also has extensive expertise in managing former mining or industrial sites and remediating contaminated wasteland.
