Drawing on knowledge and expertise to secure mineral supplies

Securing sources of strategic metals that are essential to digital and energy transformation has become a major challenge for Europe as a whole, as part of its industrial recovery. The new European regulation on critical raw materials, published in 2023, requires Member States to assess their mineral resource potential.

In France, an inventory led by BRGM is due to be launched shortly. The institution, which covers the entire mineral materials value chain, is also specialised in life-cycle analysis and technological innovation to improve processing and recycling.
