Improving knowledge of the subsurface to optimise its uses

The challenge is to improve the representation of the subsurface and its uses by investigating, disseminating and refining geological knowledge at both national and international levels. BRGM aims to provide information that is increasingly detailed and accurate, as well as being immediately exploitable in order to promote more diversified and sustainable uses of the subsurface and its resources.

It thus draws on the latest scientific and technological advances in subsurface investigation, in particular a wide range of geophysical techniques to better characterise the shape and nature of geological structures.
