Body

In a context of accelerating energy transition in Europe and rising energy prices, the subsurface and its properties can help to diversify the energy mix with renewable, low-carbon solutions at competitive costs. Underground space can be used for geothermal energy production and energy storage, as well as being an essential element in policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by storing CO2

Drawing upon its know-how and R&D resources, BRGM is seeking to explore, study and exploit the potential of the subsurface, particularly at the regional level. In this way, it is promoting the implementation of economically viable systems with low environmental impact.
